Portland Crows

One of our favorite things about early winter in Portland, Maine, is the fact that hundreds of crows roost in our neighborhood. Beautiful, stark, and wintery.

Thankful

A cold, windy, Thanksgiving week walk near the Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth.

Prouts Neck Cliff Walk

There is no better month to walk along the breathtaking Cliff Walk than November. The waves are wild, the path is quiet, and the winter berries are brilliant.

Beach Collection

Things we found on the beach while walking along the cliff walk at Prout's Neck. They remind us of an Ernst Haeckel illustration!

Stonington

We love driving down the Blue Hill Peninsula, crossing the gorgeous suspension bridge to Deer Isle, and following the road to where it ends, in Stonington.

The town is vibrant and busy in the summer, quieter this time of year but still humming with life.

Acadia

Just a few images from a late fall weekend spent in spectacular Acadia National Park, including a hike up Gorham Mountain Trail and around beautiful Jordan Pond.

Grand Falls is their newest hut, which opened this October and is located below the spectacular Grand Falls in Kingfield, Maine. Finally we're getting a little excited about winter's approach!

The End of Apple Season

As we enter the second half of October, we're fast approaching the end of apple season in southern Maine. We took advantage of another beautiful weekend to visit two orchards, Thompson's Orchard in New Gloucester, and Hansel's Orchard in North Yarmouth. While Thompson's was picked nearly clean (they have excellent apple cider doughnuts, though), Hansel's still had plenty of trees weighed down with perfect apples.
